Ski Jackson Hole and jump into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travelandleisure.com\/articles\/worlds-scariest-ski-slopes\/3\" class=\"broken_link\">Corbet&#8217;s Couloir.<\/a> This world class mountain offers hundreds of challenging runs, but Corbet&#8217;s is a true classic and is actually quite reasonable on a big powder day.<\/p>\n<p>3. Learn to surf. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterheller.net\/kook.html\">Surfing<\/a> is a very challenging sport, but the rewards are worth the effort.<\/p>\n<p>4. Go canyoneering in the great Southwestern desert. \u00a0The hundreds of pristine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americansouthwest.net\/slot_canyons\/books.html\">slot canyons <\/a>in Southern Utah offer exciting journeys into another world that are impossible to describe.<\/p>\n<p>5. Climb and ski a <a href=\"https:\/\/danceonedge.com\/?page_id=32\">big mountain.<\/a> One of my favorite thrills is to climb to the top of a mountain and ski back down. The many great mountain ranges of the world offer a huge spectrum of summits and descents and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildsnow.com\/books\/wild_snow.htm\" class=\"broken_link\">Wild Snow<\/a> by Lou Dawson is a great guidebook. Mount Shasta in California is highly recommended.<\/p>\n<p>6. Spend at least one winter in a ski town and join a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/1Fz2yyBG31OfhN3k2gnYn4AMBolprG5_6pcS9HMfzy573vNZiEuF180i7bFhn\/edit?pli=1\" class=\"broken_link\">town race league<\/a>. You&#8217;ll meet some very interesting people, enjoy an incredible thrill and really improve your skiing techniques. Extra points for the <a href=\"https:\/\/danceonedge.com\/?page_id=832\">Aspen Town Downhill.<\/a>\u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/ussamasters.org\/\">Masters League<\/a> is another alternative which doesn&#8217;t require moving to a ski town.<\/p>\n<p>7. Kayak the<a href=\"https:\/\/danceonedge.com\/?page_id=24\"> Colca <\/a>or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peruwhitewater.com\/\">Cotahuasi<\/a>\u00a0Canyons in Peru or climb one of the many great\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/peaksandplaces.com\/purchase_book.htm\">mountains.<\/a>\u00a0The Colca\u00a0offers a truly surrealistic journey through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adventure-associates.com\/page_content.asp?id_page=819\" class=\"broken_link\">deepest canyon in the world<\/a> and the Cotahuasi flows through a spectacular desert canyon filled with the ruins of an ancient Inca civilization. A few <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetplanetwhitewater.com\/kayak-school\/overnight-trips\/peru-kayak-expedition\/\" class=\"broken_link\">brave companies <\/a>offer commercial raft trips. Peru is also famous for big surf, ancient Inca villages and pristine jungles filled with exotic birds.<\/p>\n<p>8. <a href=\"https:\/\/danceonedge.com\/?page_id=1064\">Kayak<\/a>\u00a0and climb or hike in Nepal. This mountain paradise is home to some of the best whitewater on earth. The vistas are stunning and the locals are very friendly. Don&#8217;t forget to ride an elephant.<\/p>\n<p>9. Take a climbing trip to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.railay.com\/railay\/climbing\/climbing_intro.shtml\">Thailand<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southeastasiabackpacker.com\/activities\/rock-climbing\">SE Asia<\/a>. The weather is a great, the food is awesome and a wide variety of bolted routes provide a climbing mecca.<\/p>\n<p>10. Climb a <a href=\"http:\/\/deserttowersbook.com\/\">desert spire<\/a>. The great Southwestern desert of the US is home to some great sandstone spires and they offer a wide range of thrilling challenges. Layton Korr said that a spire was worth 3 big wall climbs and I tend to agree.
